In the Land of Giants

Again with the fungus! (And even a bonus surprise slug!) A trip to the local Arboretum between rainstorms was very rewarding. The arboretum has nicely groomed trails but with the heavy underbrush, I thought there was little chance of finding any mushrooms.

Then I spotted one. Then another solo. Then two together. Then a cluster of five. Then I found The Log.

It was a big nursery log, about two feet in diameter, covered in moss. About half way down the log, there was a cluster of ten or more mushrooms. Further on was even more. Truly the fungal mother lode.

The most surprising thing was that the past couple weeks had been kinda rough, but all it took for a full reset was a little walk in the park.
