Early August saw us on a short hike in the Upper Snoqualmie Valley. Rising over 1,000 feet above the valley floor, Rattlesnake Ledge provides some impressive views of the valley, Mount Si to the north and the Cascade Range to the East.
Interestingly, there are no rattlesnakes in Western Washington. Instead, the area takes its name from a surveyor who, in 1850, mistook the rattle of seed pods for the warning sound of a venomous reptile.
